The History & Legacy Behind Bonded Roofing
Eugene "Gene" Sivert Layton 6/14/1946 - 4/24/2021
Eugene & Gene Sivert Layton was born on June 14, 1946, to Walter Lee and Frida Layton and raised in Baldwin Park, CA. Gene attended Mount San Antonio Jr. College and Colorado State University where he played football and received a degree in sociology. He went on to play defensive end for the Chicago Bears, Houston Oilers, and various minor-league teams in the early 1970s. After football, Gene became a commercial truck driver for several years where he often hauled roofing material which led him to begin his own roofing business.
Gene’s very successful company, Bonded Roofing, has been an institution in Long Beach and the surrounding areas for over 40 years. While successfully operating his own business, Gene also took the time to continue his passion for football and coach various youth and high school football teams. Gene also became a licensed pilot, Gene took great pleasure in flying his airplanes. A favorite destination was Punta Chivato in Baja, Mexico, where he enjoyed world-class deep-sea fishing with friends and family. He also loved to pilot his ocean fishing boat and fish the waters of Southern California. It is difficult to say when Gene retired, however in recent years he spent most of his time traveling with his wife and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
Thank you, Gene for entrusting Bonded Roofing to us.
